Job’s reply to Eliphaz appears to have been a cry for people to understand the weight of what he is enduring (v1-7). Eliphaz had many fine sounding words but he appeared to have been indifferent to what Job was enduring.

Job speaks again of his desire to die and have his suffering over (v8-10). The idea of waiting for deliverance as Eliphaz had suggested is just too much for Job in his weakness (v11-13).

Job’s tone becomes a bit angry as he expresses being let down by those who should be helping him (v18-23).

There is a real challenge here for us to be people of love and compassion who care for and help those in need. Pray about those you know in need and how you can help them.

Eliphaz’s argument is that Job’s sin has led to his suffering. Now Job puts out the challenge for his friends to reveal what sin he is guilty of (v24-30).

We need to be careful of a judgmental attitude towards others and especially towards those who are suffering.
