Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read 1 Samuel 29-30

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

When David and his men return from being with the Philistine army, they discover the dreadful news that their wives had been kidnapped by Amalekite raiders (v1-3). As expected David and his men are devastated (v4-5), but soon his men point the finger of blame at David (v6).

David had done nothing wrong but here we see that the place of leadership can be lonely and dangerous. David’s response was to find ‘strength in the Lord his God’.

No matter what any believer faces, this is something they can do as well. Our world might be turned upside down, our world might fall apart, but God remains the same and He can be turned to for hope. In days of trouble the

Lord must always be our first port of call.

David doesn’t panic; he doesn’t act rashly, but takes time to seek God’s will in regards to his response (v7-8). David was wise as to who was fit for this

pursuit and who was not (v9-10).

Wisdom in life, wisdom in leadership comes from knowing and correctly applying God’s will to our lives. Pray for such wisdom in your life.
