Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Nahum 2v9-13
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
In Nineveh’s destruction it is a case of the mighty who have fallen. Nineveh was so wealthy, but now it is all being plundered (v9). Their wealth is now of no value or help to them. That which they lived for now counts for nothing.
Is what you live for going to be of help to you when the darkest days and even death comes to you?
The people’s courage has been plundered also (v10). Hearts melting, knees trembling and faces becoming pale shows how these arrogant and self-confident people have been brought low. In your most frightening moments in life, is Jesus your rock?
The mighty land has been subdued (v11-12) and Nineveh which was once like a terrifying lion, is no longer is to be feared. Those who frighten God’s people now, will one day be brought to nothing.
Nahum highlights what really is the main problem for the Ninevites; God is against them (v13). That is why all which the people would have relied on is now destroyed.
There is a total contrast here with Psalm 124 where David speaks of how it was only because the Lord was on his side, that he prevailed when facing terrible days.
Is the Lord on your side? This is only true if you are in Christ, saved through faith in Jesus.
