Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem before His death brought great celebration (v9). But why was it that those who so gladly welcomed Jesus on the Sunday, would be calling for His death on the Friday morning (27 v21-23)?

One answer has to be that people are so fickle and that they will go with the flow whether it is in praising Christ or condemning Him. There are times when we need to get away from the crowd and along with the Lord, take time to consider where we are, what we really believe. We need a firm conviction regarding what we believe and what we will do, to stop us from just going with the crowd.

One big factor in the change of attitude towards Jesus has to be what happened in the temple (v12-13). When it comes to sin Jesus is not a comfortable or compliant person to know. The Jesus who cleared the temple wants to clear the sin out of our lives. Are you open to Jesus spring cleaning your life? Pray about areas you need His cleansing power to deal with.
