Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Matthew 22

As Jesus is aware of His approaching death, He must have had in mind the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19) as He told this parable (v1-14).

The king’s request for people to come to the wedding feast of his son meets with persistent refusal (v3, 5-7). What an amazing privilege to be invited to a royal wedding, but those who refuse show the hardness of their hearts, particularly in how they attack and kill the servants (v6).

This Parable appears to have been aimed particularly at the people of Israel and their leaders. God’s Son was in their midst and they refuse to embrace His wonderfully gracious invitation.

The result of this refusal is judgment (v7) and then the invitation being extended to others (v9).

Think of those who have heard the Gospel for years and have still not come to Christ. Pray for them now.

But think also of those outside the church, who never come near, remember they are not out of reach. Pray for them also and about how you can be a witness to them.

The final part of the parable is very sombre (v11-14). This is why Gospel ministry is so urgent. People can only enter heaven as they are clothed with the righteousness of Christ which happens through saving faith. Remember what awaits those not saved (v13). Pray urgently for the lost.
