Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Mark 4

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

In the Parable of the Sower (v1-20) we see three responses to the Gospel message. The seed on the wayside makes no positive response due to the devil’s deception.

This is easy for the devil as these people’s hearts are hard like the wayside. The stony and thorny ground represents hearers who initially respond gladly but who soon fall away. These represent people who were never genuinely saved. This should serve as a warning to us all, that once making a positive response is in itself no guarantee of salvation. Those truly saved can be seen in that they bear fruit in their lives like the seed on the good ground. Have you ongoing spiritual fruit?

Jesus’ reason for using the Parable is important (v11-12). He only explained its meaning to those really interested and who stayed with Him. Others who had little time He let go on in their ignorance. To learn from Jesus, we must be sincere in seeking, following and staying with Him. Are you really serious about learning from Christ through His word?
