Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Ezekiel 7
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
This is a very solemn chapter about God’s judgment of Israel. A word that is repeated regularly her eis ‘abominations’ (v3). There were things in these peoples lives thatw ere loathsome, detestable, disgusting to the Lord. The Lord sees things very differently from us and what we might see as acceptable could be an abomination to God. This is why we always need to turn to scripture to see what is right and wrong and not rely on our own judgment which can be deeply flawed by sin.
One reason our judgment will be often very flawed is because of the pride that lurks in our lives (v10). We say pride comes before a fall, it also comes before an eternal fall in to God’s wrath in hell. Pray for humility.
The day of judgment the Lord teaches will mean that so many of the earthly possessions that people gave their lives to building up, will be counted as worthless (v12-13; 19-20). We need to make sure that our priorities are right and that our focus is on heavenly and eternal treasure.
This chapter on judgment remind sus that the only place we can be safe is by sheltering under the cross of Christ. If you are, take time to give thanks.
