Daily Bible Reading Sunday 27th February 2022
Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read 2 Samuel 23
David’s last words speak of the blessing and refreshment that godly leadership brings (v3-5) by contrast to the impact of those who are worthless (v6-7). The challenge here is do our lives really count for good?
The rest of the chapter speaks of David’s mighty men and initially three are highlighted, Josheb-basshebeth (v8), Eleazar (v9-10) and Shammah (v11-12).
An account is shared of how they risked their lives in getting David water when he spoke of his desire for it (v13-17). David’s refusal to drink the water was to help get things in right perspective as regards what is important.
Next Abishai the brother of Joab is spoken of (v18-19) and then Benaiah (v20-23). Finally, to complete the list many more names are shared (v24-39).
We live in different days in regards what God expects of His people and today is looking for those who will wield spiritual weapons. In the spiritual realm the Lord is looking for believers who will have faith to do mighty exploits for God’s honour. How is the Lord calling you to step out in faith?
