We have five wonderful miracles in this chapter.

The miracle of the oil which helped the poor widow and her sons (v1-7).

The miracle of a child for the kind woman from Shunem (v8-17).

The miracle of the son of the women of Shunem being raised (v18-37).

The miracle of the poisonous stew being healed (v38-41).

The miracle of the feeding of many with a little bread (v42-44).

All of these miracles speak of God’s great power and love in caring for His people. These miracles speak of God’s compassion for the poor, the childless, the bereaved, those in danger and the hungry. While we don’t see many miracles today, as we pray in situations of need, we can be assured that God’s power and love to provide have not changed.

Another aspect that comes out here is that those who are faithful in the Lord’s work and to the Lord’s servants, especially experience His loving care and provision.
