Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read 1 Peter 1

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

The author is clearly the apostle Peter (v1) and the letter is believed to have been written about AD62 when Peter was imprisoned in Rome. (It is thought that he died about AD64). The letter was written to believers in regions of what is now Turkey (Pontus, Galatia, Cappodocia, Asia and Bithynia).

Peter highlights three wonderful truths about believers (v2)

  1. Foreknown by God the Father – this is God setting His love on the elect sinners in eternity and choosing to save them.
  2. Sanctified by the Holy Spirit – this means being set apart by the Holy Spirit for a new life of obedience. This includes rebirth and sanctification.
  3. Sprinkled by Jesus Christ’s blood – this speaks of both forgiveness and cleansing.

Salvation is the glorious work of our great God Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Take time to talk to God about these three truths about salvation.
