Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Joshua 10
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
This appears to be one of the fiercest of battles that the people of God faced when they fight against five kings of the Amorites and their armies, who had come up against the Gibeonites (v1-10). The Lord sends a great storm of hailstones which killed more than the army of Israel did (v11).
Amazingly, at Joshua’s command, the sun stood still and the extended day enabled the completion of the victory over these nations (v12-14). Whether we believe this story of not depends on our view of God. Do we believe in a God who is removed from this world, or do we believe in the God of absolute power who mis fully invested in all that happens in this world?
The total destruction of these nations and the killing of their five kings (v16-28), brings homes to us the seriousness of sin and the great judgment of God upon sin. Never forget, that what happens to these nations is what we deserve for our sin, plus more. The only thing that rescues us from such judgement is the grace of God delivered through Jesus.
The Lord, the holy God of Israel is the God who is truly to be feared. This fear of God is one thing lacking today among believer and unbeliever.
