Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Isaiah 66
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
Isaiah concludes with his ongoing mixture of comfort and rebuke. Isaiah begins with emphasising the majesty of the Lord (v1). As God is so high above us we should not presume to decide ourselves what pleases the Lord. The problem here (v1-6), is that the people were seeking to build the temple and to offer sacrifices, but they were an abomination to the Lord because at the same time they would not listen to His voice.
The Old Testament people of God are going to give birth to a new nation (v7-14). God promises peace, prosperity and comfort to this new nation which is a picture of the church (v12-13).
The final section (v15-24) contains teaching both about judgment on sinful people and the new heavens and new earth which will be experienced by God’s redeemed people. In regards judgement Jesus would echo the teaching about their worm that shall not die and the fire that shall not be quenched when He spoke of judgement (v24; Mark 9v48).
The new heavens and new earth will be a place of wonderful worship and there will be a great gathering in from all nations to experience this. Satan does his worse to turn people from God but in the end, there will be this great number that can not be counted from all nations, who will join in the worship of the Lord forever. Will you be one of them?
