Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Leviticus 6

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

If someone sins by stealing from another they must return what was stolen and add one fifth by way of compensation (v1-5). Sin hurts people around us but it also greatly grieves the Lord and restitution through a sacrifice must be made (v6-7).

The priests when taking the ashes outside the camp must wear different clothes from the white linen they are to wear at the tabernacle (v10-11). This speaks of how when ministering at the tabernacle before the Lord the priests had to be clean and pure. This points first to the purity of Jesus our great high priest. It also speaks of how when we serve the Lord we need to be pure and clean also.

The priests also must keep the fire of the burnt offering altar burning constantly (v9, 12-13). This was because of the ongoing need for sacrifices because ultimately these sacrifices were not sufficient.

Only the future sacrifice of Jesus which would be once and for all is sufficient to take away sin (Hebrews 10 v11-14).

The final part of the chapter (v14-30) includes teaching about the holy nature of the offerings and how those who come in contact with them become holy. This points to the transforming power of the sacrifice of Jesus for those who partake of it through faith.
