Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Psalm 18

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

This Psalm was written when David experienced deliverance from Saul.

  1. The Lord – the Rock of Israel (v1-3) – David is filled with joy at who the Lord is and what He means to him. Deliverance can produce greater appreciation.
  2. Affliction (v4-6) – what David describes here is him at the very verge of death. Sheol (v5) is the place of the dead. David was feeling desperate.
  3. The Lord’s Coming to Help (v7-15) – God is here pictured as One of immeasurable greatness and power. One who none can stand against or stop.
  4. The Lord’s Deliverance (v16-19) – David’s enemies were mighty but the Lord was Almighty and hence David is delivered

We live in days when the church needs a fresh vision of the greatness of God and what He can do to transform the world around us.

  1. God’s Faithfulness to the Faithful (v20-29) – it is important to keep in balance that God’s grace to the undeserving but we also have the responsibility to live faithfully for the Lord.
