Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Isaiah 40
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
This glorious chapter begins with a promise of comfort and this message would come from the one crying in the wilderness, who of course would be John the Baptist (v1-5). The glory of God being revealed would be through Jesus Christ, God come in flesh.
To assure the people of this truth they are reminded that while so much in this world passes away, God’s word never passes away and will always be faithful (v6-8). This is why the Word of God has to be what we are anchored on.
One of our greatest needs has to be having a right vision of the Lord and this is what Isaiah encourages the people of Jerusalem to have (v9). In these great verses the Lord is pictured as ruling in strength (v10), shepherding in love (v11), of being far greater in his being and mind than we can imagine (v12-14), of being far above the nations (v15-17), of being way beyond idols (v1820), of ruling the universe and its inhabitants (v21-24), of being the all-powerful creator (v25-26) and of renewing the weary (v27-31).
Regularly the cry goes out, “To whom will you compare Me”, and the answer is there is no one to whom we can compare God, He is far above all.
