Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Judges 16

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

His desire for women was a big weakness in Samson’s life and this continues first with a prostitute (v1-3) and then most famously with Delilah a Philistine (v4-5). The naivety of Samson in not realising what Delilah was up to was amazing (v6-15). They say love is blind, and this can be a love for many different things, which blinds us to how we’re in spiritual danger.

In the end Samson is undone by this wrong relationship (v16-20). Samson’s compromise ruins him spiritually and he doesn’t even realise that the Lord has left him (v20). Are there areas of your life where you’re compromising and because of this you don’t realise you have become distant from the Lord?

The consequence on Samson was very severe, it included the gouging out of his eyes (v21) and they made fun of him (v25-27). Samuel prays to the Lord for one final time of help (v28) and has one final great victory (v29-30). In his death he has defeated the enemies of his people. The grace of God is seen in using such a man as Samson with all his weaknesses and sin. God’s grace is further seen in how Samson in his victory in death, points to the glorious victory Jesus would secure through His death on the cross.
