Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read 1 Corinthians 10

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

To those who said because false gods are not real, that it therefore doesn’t
matter if you take food that has been sacrificed to an idol, Paul here warns of the danger of idolatry and gives the people of Israel who died in the wilderness as an example (v1-11).

God’s people must persevere in faithfulness and flee from sin and
wonderfully God provides a way out of temptation (v12-13).

In returning to the danger of idolatry and of taking food sacrificed to idols, Paul describes it as joining the cup of Christ with the cup of demons (v14-22). When we commit ourselves to the crucified Jesus we must be devoted to Him.
There must be serious determination to turn from all that offends God.

In regarding the meat sacrificed to idols, Paul encourages people not to be paranoid and searching out the source of all meat. If they don’t know the source eat, if they do know it has been sacrificed to idols leave it (v25-33).

Paul gives better guidelines to what we do than just asking if something is lawful. Does it help us and build us up in Christ (v23)? Does what we do help or hinder others (v24)? Does what we do bring glory to God (v31)?
