Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read 1 Corinthians 1

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

The church in Corinth was formed through Paul’s ministry (see Acts 18). Later Paul writes this letter to respond to the following problems within the church at Corinth, Divisions (Chapters 1-4), Sexual relations (ch. 5-7), Food issues (8-10), Gatherings (ch. 11-14) and the Resurrection (ch. 15).

Paul in his initial greeting gives warm thanksgiving for the Corinthian believers (v1-9). This is quite amazing considering some of the big problems with the church there.

Paul then speaks about divisions within the church (v10-17) where people seem to have been divided among their favourite preachers. Paul’s response to this situation is to emphasise again the Gospel and its power (v18-31). Understanding the lowly position that these believers have come from and the wonder of God’s grace in saving them in Christ, has to be one of the greatest means of heating divisions.

Are you divided from other believers? Are you treating other believers with something of the grace that God has shown to you?
