Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read John 16

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

As we continue to consider Jesus’ teaching on the Holy Spirit we see that one of His main works is the necessary task of bringing conviction (v8). Jesus describes this conviction as three-fold, a. of sin (v9), b. of righteousness (v10) and c. of judgement (v1).

It is vital for people to experience conviction before they will come to Christ for salvation. We need to be praying for this to happen among the unsaved. But the believer needs ongoing conviction in their lives to help secure ongoing repentance and a life of growing holiness.

Another important aspect of the Spirit’s work Is to lead God’s people into the truth (v12-13), The disciples at this stage were unable to grasp all Jesus taught but later the Spirit would enable them to grasp this. We need to pray for the Spirit to particularly help us to grasp the meaning of scripture.

In leading into truth, the Spirit brings glory to Christ by making Him known (v14-15). Our reading of scripture is to enable us to see Jesus. In this happening the Spirit takes us deeper into the life of God. Pray for this.
