Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Hebrews 10

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

The Old Testament sacrifices, while required by God, did not take away sin, if they did they would not have had to keep repeating them (v1-4).

Jesus as a greater high priest came not to offer animals as sacrifices but was presenting His own body to do the will of God (v5-10). The sacrifice of an animal would cost a priest little, but the sacrifice of His own body would coast Jesus so much.

The writer contrasts the repeated sacrifices of the OT priests to the once for all sacrifice of Jesus, after which He sat at the Father’s right hand, sitting showing His work in dealing with sin was completed (v11-13).

Jesus’ sacrifice was a take away sin, not just the guilt, but the power and presence of sin in people’s lives as they are made holy and God’s law is written in their hearts as they receive the nature of Christ within (v14-18).

The result of this among God’s people is a confidence in approaching God (v19-23) and a passion to stir each other up for holy living (v24-25).
