Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Hebrews 8

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

The writer continues to focus on the superiority of Jesus as a great high priest much greater than the Old Testament priests. The OT priests in serving in the tabernacle, were serving in something, which although glorious, was still a shadow of the greater reality in which Jesus ministered in (v1-5).

The tabernacle had to be erected so carefully according to God’s instructions because it was pointing to heaven. Each year the High Priest took the blood of atonement into the holy of holies, Jesus at death presented Himself as a sacrifice into the holy of holies of heaven.

Jesus is also a more excellent priest as He is one of a better covenant (v6-13). The ministering of the old covenant was very grand with all the ceremonies and sacrifices, the new covenant will have less outward glory but is more wonderful as it transforms hearts in a much greater way writing God’s law on people’s hearts (v10). The ministry of Jesus does away with the need of the OT priesthood, it has been surpassed (v13). Reality replaces the shadows.
