As Paul continues to teach about the gatherings of believers he comes now to speak of spiritual gifts. One of the important things about all gifts and how they are used is that they exalt Christ (v1-3). Have you this desire?

Paul speaks about the great variety of gifts and how different gifts are given to every church member (v4-11). If saved do you realise you have gifts?

Paul now likens the members of the church like different parts of the body of Christ (v12-31). This means that we should not think of ourselves in isolation from the church family. We should not look down on ourselves and see our role as unimportant (v14-20), but neither should be look down on others and see them as unimportant (v21-26). Every member is important, every member has an important role and every member is to be highly valued.

Often one important mark of churches that thrive and grow today, is that there is an important emphasis on every member having important roles to fulfil and in which to serve in the body of Christ. Do you know what role God wants you to fulfil within the church of Jesus Christ?
