These chapter contains seven bowls of wrath which speak of God’s judgment. The first five are: –

1. Painful sores on those who had the mark of the beast (v2)
2. The sea becomes blood and all living creatures in it die. (v3)
3. The rivers and springs became blood (v4-7)
4. The sun scorches people (v8-9)
5. Poured on the throne of beast and darkness comes (v10-11).

These first five bowls of wrath speak of what is happening in the world between Jesus’ first coming and second coming, God’s wrath revealed now.

The Sixth Bowl (v12-14) brings us to Armageddon, which means Mountain of Megiddo. Megiddo was a place in northern Israel and is famous for many battles that took place there. Here Armageddon coincides with a growing opposition from evil. As evil grows and seems as if it is going to totally overcome the church, then Christ intervenes with His return (v15-16).

The Seventh Bowl (v17-21) speaks of the final defeat of Babylon which represents all that evil and opposed to God. Evil has its day but it is only for a very short period compared to eternity.
