Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Matthew 14
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
Do you really believe that Jesus walked on water as described here (v22-33)? Take a moment to answer this question.
How we answer will say a lot about the Jesus we believe in. Do we believe in a Jesus who is like a character in a fairy tale, or do we believe in the Jesus who can today make a miraculous difference in our lives? A Jesus, who couldn’t walk on water, is a Jesus who can’t save today.
In this great story we see the truth about Jesus’ watching care for His disciples that brought him to them in their time of need (v26). The coming of Jesus into life’s situations isn’t always comfortable. Jesus can really shake things up. But as Jesus comes we discover more of His greatness.
Jesus reassures Peter and the disciples (v27) and this encourages Peter to take amazing steps (v28-29). Peter began to sink when his focus moved from Jesus to the situation around him (v30). The more we can keep our eyes on Jesus the stronger will be our faith, peace and even joy in days of trials.
When we see the greatness of Jesus our doubts should be overtaken with worship (v31-33). Pray for this more and more to be your experience.
