Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Psalm 3-4

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

Psalm 3 was written by David when his son Absalom rebelled against him. (see 2 Samuel 15:1-17) Absalom was very popular with the people and they soon turned to support him against King David which meant David had to flee for his life.

Verses 1 & 2 depict a very hopeless situation for David, yet he faces it in an amazing manner due to his faith in God (v3-4). It is as David takes his eyes off the situation and unto God that his outlook changes. This is something we have to do when faced with great trials. We need to be disciplined to meditate on God’s greatness, His power, majesty and love. We need to look at our situation in life with the eyes of faith.

David can go on; he can face the enemy (even 10,000) because of his awareness of God’s greatness (v5-6). He has peace that can’t be taken away which comes from his relationship with the Lord. He knows that despite dark days, the Lord will bring victory, salvation and blessing to His people (v7-8).

What a glorious hope, but we need to trust in the Lord and seek His will, for this to be true for us! David’s faith was because he knew the Lord so well. How well do you know the Lord?
