Salvation is through faith in Christ and not by keeping the law. That being the case, people need to hear of Jesus (v14). This is the whole purpose of preaching and of preachers (v15). It is a beautiful thing to share the Gospel of peace through Jesus. Pray for those you know who preach and teach about Christ that they will be faithful and effective.

We need to pray for this many reject this message (v16). Although Israel had heard the truth, they rejected it (v17-19). It is very interesting to see that one of the reasons for the gospel going to the Gentiles is to make the Jews jealous (v19). People from many nations both then and today have found Christ (v20). God in grace has reached down into their ignorance when they weren’t seeking Him.

Finally what Paul says of Israel is sadly so true of so many today who hear the Gospel (v21). Pray for those who Christ stretches out His hands to today. Pray for those you know who reject the Saviour.
