Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Hebrews 12
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
The result of the great witnesses of chapter 11 is that we should be inspired to run the race set out for us (v1). The key to being able to do this is keeping our eyes on Jesus (v2-4). Considering particularly what Jesus endured for us should inspire us to persevere in difficult days.
Difficult days are a part of God’s loving discipline and shows we are accepted as His children (v5-11). The discipline of a human parent is not perfect, but God’s discipline comes from perfect love and wisdom.
Remember the book of Hebrews is about encouraging weary Christians to persevere, and the considerable focus on Jesus our great high priest should strengthen us to endure and seek a life of increasing holiness (v12-14). This holiness is no optional extra, without it no one will see God (v14-17).
We need to remember that in approaching God and the world to come, we’re approaching a world more awesome than even what Sinai was (v18-29) when was received the Ten Commandments (see Exodus 19).
