This Samaritan woman knew there was a Messiah to come (v25). Jesus does not hesitate to reveal that He is the Messiah (v26). The most important thing, is for Jesus the Messiah, to be revealed to us personally and to those near us.

Jesus revealing the truth about her spoke to the woman so she couldn’t help but share this (v27-30). God’s Word reveals to us who we truly are. This isn’t always comfortable but is necessary for God to have His way in our lives.

As God spoke into her life, this woman didn’t resist Christ but embraced Him. This was the most wonderful thing that ever happened to her.

Jesus wants to teach His disciples an important lesson (v31-34). The food that really sustained Jesus, was reaching people with the Gospel. There is little which as enriching as Gospel work, sharing Jesus with others.

There is the danger that Christian people fail to see the great opportunities for reaping a spiritual harvest all around us (v35-38). We don’t know what seed has been sown in people’s lives; we don’t know where God has been already working. We need to be willing to be involved in this work of God which often is taking place in people we might not have dreamed of.
