Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Exodus 23
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
The Lord gives the promise of an angel to go before Israel to guard and lead (v20). They must pay careful attention to him, listening to his voice, to rebel will bring consequences (v21) while to be faithful will bring blessing (v22).
The danger of being influenced by the false gods of the nations they will defeat is warned about (v23-24). This will always be a danger for God’s people as we live in this hostile world. It is only by God’s grace that we will not be repeatedly pulled down by those around us. We must watch and pray.
Faithfulness is encouraged by great blessing which God promises and delights to give (v25-28). God is not reluctant but thrilled to bless His children, we must always remember this.
God’s wisdom in slowly driving out the nations is spoken of (v29-30). When we think God is moving slowly, He always has a good reason and His timing is always perfect. Rejoice in this as you wait for answers to your prayers.
A great inheritance is promised (v31) but again the dangers of being led astray are focused on (v32-33). Having our affections taken from the Lord is a constant danger we all face. Only God’s grace can protect us from this.
