Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Exodus 24

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

The men with Moses had a vision of God that included a pavement of sapphire which spoke of God’s absolute cleanness and purity (v9-10). In God’s grace these men are allowed to see God and eat and drink in His presence (v11). It is only through God’s grace and having come through God’s provided sacrifice for sin that we can come to the Lord’s presence and have fellowship with Him.

Moses is given greater privilege of going higher up the mountain to be even closer to the Lord (v12-13). While Moses did this Aaron and Hur were appointed to deal with any disputes the people had (v14).

Here we see a crucial aspect of spiritual leadership which is to go away from the normal duties of serving to spend time in God’s close presence. All who seek to bless people in their role as minister, elders, youth leaders, Sunday School teachers, other church leaders or as parents, the greatest priority is to be spending time alone with God. Jesus spent a whole night in prayer (Luke 6 v12); surely we need to similarly be so committed in order to be a blessing to others. Pray about this and how you need to respond to this challenge.
