Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org.
Please read Genesis 21.

God’s blessing comes not because we ever deserve it but because God is gracious (v1). God keep his promise although it took 30 years from when God first called Abraham. God keeps His promises in His time and often how God looks on time is very different from us (see 2 Peter 3 v8-9).

Isaac is born when Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90, an amazing miracle. As Abraham named the boy Isaac, which means laughter, it would have been a reminder to Abraham how he laughed when God told him what He would do (see Genesis 17 v17; 18 v12). Nothing was too hard for God.

Isaac was the one through whom God’s promises would be fulfilled with the coming of the Saviour from him, and in bringing about his birth in this miraculous way, God is showing that salvation is not in the power of mankind to deliver but only comes through the miraculous action of God.

Sarah sees Isaac name as appropriate because of the joy and laughter the Lord has brought her through his birth (v6-7). Do you rejoice in the god who can do the impossible?
