Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Genesis 5

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

We have here the family tree from Adam to Noah. It is emphasised that mankind was made in the image of God (v1), made to be like God.

Humans both male and female were given the masculine title ‘man’ (adam, v2). This is probably to bring out the headship of man.

After speaking of man being made in God’s image we’re told that Seth was made in the likeness of his father (v3). This meant the image of God was passed on to Seth but it was a spoiled image due to Adam’s sin.

The line of Seth is similar to Cain’s (4 v17-22) with similar names, but spiritually these lines were very different as typified by Enoch (v21-24). It appears that the birth of Enoch’s son Methuselah inspired him to walk with God. His walk was so close that God in the end took him to glory without death (v24). Are you walking with God? Pray about this.

For those who are parents we need to be careful that we are deliberately seeking to raise a godly line for God’s glory and honour. Let us pray that God’s grace will touch our families in generation after generation.
