Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Psalm 135-136
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
As the Psalmist calls on God’s people to praise the Lord (v1-2), the motivation is the goodness of the Lord (v3) and His electing love (v4). These are truths which will warm our hearts as we take time to meditate on them.
The Lord is not to be compared to false gods (idols), because the Lord does as He pleases in heaven and on earth (v5-6), he is the Sovereign Lord.
God’s activity can be seen in the natural world (v7) and particularity in His acts of redemption (v8-12). Redemption means the Lord name endures forever through His redeemed people (v13-14).
As the Psalmist speaks of the helplessness of idols (v15-17), he resounds a warning that people become like what they worship (v18). You worship the wrong thing, this brings you down, while worshipping the Lord will raise you up..
The Lord is to be blessed, to be praised and thanked for who He is and what He does (v19-20). the Lord is to be praised, particularly for how He dwells among His people (v21). This of course was wonderfully accomplished in Jesus living among us to be become our Saviour.
