Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read 1 Chronicles 16
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
The ark was placed in this tent in Jerusalem with sacrifices (v1-2), a feast (v3) and praise (v4-7). The ark signified great blessing as the Lord dwelt among His people. This points forward to Jesus in the Upper Room, when He celebrated the Passover with His disciples and instituted the Lord’s Supper. This was all pointing forward to how through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, the way to dwell in God’s presence was being opened up. In the Upper Room they also engaged in singing praise before they left (Mark 14 v26).
The praise sang by Asaph and his brothers (v8-36), has many verses that are in the book of Psalms. The song highlights how God is worthy of so much praise because of His majesty, holiness and faithfulness. The song calls for wholehearted devotion to the Lord
When we sing Psalms, it is wonderful to think of how we’re part of something, God’s people have been singing, for thousands of years. The praise we sing must be focused on the pattern we see in such Psalms.
David organises that right sacrifices and praise would continue to accompany the presence of the ark (v37-42). Asaph, who is mentioned here, would be the author of quite a few Psalms. David, having been blessed in the Lord’s presence now goes home to bless his family (v43).
