This was a frightening and bewildering experience for these women (v1-5). God’s dealings with His people are not always comfortable as He is this God of glory and awe.

The women are now given hope as they are directed to Jesus’ words in order to explain what was happening (v6-8). To make sense of what is happening to us or around us, we need to turn again and again to Christ’s word, the bible. Many believers live in unnecessary fear as they fail to apply the Bible to their personal situation.

The women report what has happened to the disciples, but they fail to believe (v9-11). Peter wisely decides to investigate matters (v12).

Why were the women chosen to be the first witnesses of the resurrection? The answer is simple, they were the most devoted. The most devoted to Christ, will get some of the greatest spiritual blessings. Are you missing out on so much due to a lack of devotion?
