Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Deuteronomy 22

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

God’s people were to show care for their neighbour’s animals (v1-4). This of course was protecting the neighbour’s livelihood. God’s people should have a genuine love for the good of their fellow believers.

The men are to dress as men and the women as women (v5). Those who would argue that this means women should only wear skirts to differentiate them from men, fail to remember that when this was written, all people, men and women wore a type of a dress.

There are laws about preserving birds (v6-7) and about safety at a house (v8). There are laws about not mixing seeds (v9) or animals (v10) or fabric in clothes (v11), and a law about tassels on their clothes (v12). These latter laws were about the Israelites being reminded that they were to be a distinct and pure people.

The laws about sexual relationships (v13-30) show the seriousness with which God took sexual sin. These laws also advance the rights of women and how they were to be honoured and not to be seen just as sexual objects.
