Daily Bible Reading Friday 1st January 2021

Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Genesis 1

Over the next four years (God willing) by reading one chapter a day we hope to go through the whole Bible once and the New Testament and Psalms twice in our Bible reading notes. It will not be possible in the notes to cover every part of the chapter read that day, but rather we will focus in on one part.

Making mankind was the crown of God’s creation (v24-31). “Let us make man” (v26) speaks of how all of the Trinity were involved. Mankind was made in God’s image (v26) which means he was made sinless with a perfect soul. It also means that he was made with a thinking, rational, soul with which he could know and love God. Our DNA may have similarities to the animals but our souls make us totally different.

Mankind was made to rule over creation (v26 & 28) and to care for this world. This planet is not to be worshipped by God’s people but we certainly are to be concerned about environmental issues.

It is important that God made mankind male and female (v27). It is not for people to decide that they want to change gender. To do so is to rebel against the Creator’s wisdom.

Men and women are different in many ways and will have different roles, but they are both equal before God as they are equally made in God’s image.
