God was starting something new through this man Abram. Abram would only be called Abraham later in Genesis 17. Abram is called to leave his old life and step out in faith to where God will guide him (v1).

Are there areas of your old life that you still need to leave? Pray about this. It takes faith to truly believe that the way of obedience is the way of blessing.

Abram is promised that he will become a great nation and that through him all the nations of the world would be blessed (v2-3). This blessing of all nations would happen through Abram’s great descendant Jesus.

Abram and his family step out in faith (v4-5). Abram comes to the Promised Land and travels through it (v6-9) and worships near Bethel (v9).

Blessing came when Abram stepped out in faith and left behind his old life of sin and false worship. Is God calling you to step out in faith in some way?

When you step out in faith amazing things can happen. Through this one man Abram great blessing would come to so many. How could God use you?
