Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Genesis 27

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

Isaac in his old age wants to pass on a blessing to Esau as his oldest son (v1-4). But he shouldn’t have been doing this because it was prophesied that Jacob would be the one who would have greater blessing (Gen. 25 v23). Also Esau had rejected his rights as the firstborn (Gen. 25 v34).

Esau also knew this was wrong but he was willing to go along with his father to get this blessing. Esau thought he could have no regard for God and still know His blessing. Sadly many today think likewise.

God overrules what happens as Rebekah overhears what Isaac was planning and gets Jacob to enter with a meal disguised as Esau (v5-10).

Sadly what we see here from all members of this family is deceitfulness. Here is a family where grace and truth were not dominating. Do grace and truth dominate in the dealings in your family?

Despite all that was going on, in Jacob approaching his father dressed as his elder brother, we have a beautiful picture of how a Christian can approach God dressed in the righteous clothes of our elder brother Jesus.
