Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Genesis 18

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

One of the privileges of being a child of God through salvation in Christ is that God reveals to us many things hidden from the world (v16-21). God now reveals to Abraham what is going to happen Sodom and Gomorrah (v20-21).

God’s judgment is fair and based on what sin deserves. People sin as if there is no one taking account and as if there is immunity from its consequences. What we see here is that sin brings judgment. We must fear sin and its judgment.

As two angels leave for Sodom and Gomorrah Abraham remains before the Lord to intercede for Sodom (v22-25). Abraham’s intercession is based on the righteousness of the Lord and how God will always act righteously (v25).

If there were 50 or 45 or 40 or 30 or 20 or even just 10 righteous people the Lord would save this city (v24-33). Sodom and Gomorrah were so steeped in sin that even ten righteous could not be found in them.

Do you intercede like Abraham for the lost who are facing God’s wrath and eternal judgment? There is no more loving thing that you can ever do for the lost than to pray for their salvation.
