Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Philippians 2
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
For Paul, a Christian’s life is not one with a bit of religion in it, but one so consumed with Christ, that it is filled with love and purpose (v1-4).
Jesus is to be our example in life (v5). We have here what was possibly an ancient hymn (v6-11), that speaks of Christ who was almighty God, humbling Himself to come into this world as a servant, being obedient even going to the cross (v6-8). This amazing humility should impact the believer daily in how they live and conduct themselves before God and to others.
The result of this obedience of Christ, is for God to exalt Him to the highest honour of heaven, so that before Him every knee shall bow and tongue confess Him as Lord (v9-11). In a world of such hostility towards Christ, what a wonderfully comforting thought, that in the end all people will give Him the praise He is due.
There is also the challenge for us personally, that even now in every area of our lives, we submit to the Lordship of Christ. Paul calls on us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling (v12-13). This means we need to carefully consider what the implication should be for our lives day by, in being those who are saved and who follow Jesus.
