Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Philippians 4
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
Paul ministers in the real world and seeks to heal divisions (v2-3). divisions work against the church being a place of joy, which is the theme of this letter. The devil wants to divide, pray and work for unity.
Paul then returns to his theme of joy, which is to be found in a life of fellowship with the Lord (v4-7). Prayer and a life focusing on and living out God’s truth (v8-9), brings peace, a state of contentment and security in Christ. Paul speaks of this joy and peace, even as he himself is imprisoned, such is the power of the Holy Spirit.
Paul speaks of how in every situation in life he has found the secret of contentment (v11-13). It is God who brings and enables such contentment (v13). Knowing you’re serving such an amazing God is an important part of this contentment.
Paul encourages the Philippians to support him for their own sake (v14-19). Holding on tightly to possessions will prevent contentment, as it comes to a warm and giving heart. Paul can’t speak about the provision in Christ (v19), without being moved to glorify God (v20). Paul is consumed with adoration of God.
As Paul ends with greetings (v21-23), he reveals how the Gospel has penetrated even into Caesar’s household (v22). To God be the glory.
