Daily Bible Reading Saturday 7th May 2022

Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org.
Please read Proverbs 7.

This young man is encouraged to treasure the commandments given to him and even see them as the apple of his eye (v1-2). It is important to remember the love and needed wisdom that is behind the commandments of God.

Commandments are to be bound to our fingers and heart (v3), which means they are to become such apart of our lives and who we are. This happens not with a casual viewing of God’s word, but rather with very serious study of God’s truth. We must be intimate with God’s word (v4).

We return again to the danger of adultery which a young man is protected from by the teaching of his youth (v5). Here though the writer observes a foolish young man going to close to the adulteress’ house (v6-9). Temptation is not something we are to play with but rather flee far from.

Like the adulteress mentioned here (v10-23), sin is persistent and persuasive. In this world we’re never free from the temptation and the battle against sin.

This is a battle we must win in Christ, because like the adulteress, sin brings us down to ruin and even eternal death (v24-27). Fear and flee sin!
