Could not display passage from ESV.org. Please read Exodus 1

The oppression of God’s people the Israelites continued for a long time (v13-14). Oppression happens when people place their needs and desires over the needs and desires of others.

Be careful that you do not have a selfish attitude that would exploits others and expect others to serve you without you ever returning it.

The king’s plan becomes much more evil as he seeks to have all male children killed (v15-16). If unrestrained evil in our lives and society will grow and grow.

The midwives feared God and obeyed God rather than this evil tyrant (v17).

This was a very brave action by the midwives and God honours them (v18-21). It takes courage but we must stand for what is right even if it will be unpopular and puts us at risk. One example of how we need to do this is to speak up for the unborn child and speak against abortion.

The king continues his evil plans though. Sin and wickedness is very persistent and only the power of God can stop it.
