Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Exodus 20

Teaching by Rev. William Moody

The Ten Commandments were given by God to Moses at Sinai immediately after the Children of Israel left Egypt. These commandments highlight where true freedom is found, by submitting to God’s will.

Please take time to read over them slowly letting God point out areas in your life where you are failing Him. Pray for forgiveness in these areas, remembering the promise, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1 v9)

Our response to studying the Ten Commandments should not be just about trying harder to be better people. Paul says, “the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.“ (Galatians 3 v24).

The Ten Commandments should help us see more and more how much we fail Christ and that our only hope is to flee to Jesus for His saving, cleansing and empowering grace. The righteous will live by faith, and this means trusting in Christ and in His strength to enable us to keep the commandments, not to earn salvation, but out of thankfulness for the salvation we have received.
