Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Exodus 2
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
It is a common pattern in the Old Testament that when God moves to deliver His people often a single person will be powerfully used. We must never underestimate what God can do through any sincere believer.
A man and woman from the family of Levi had a son who they hid (v1-2). When she could hide him at home no more the mother hid the boy in a basket at the Nile with his older sister keeping watch (v3).
Here we see the great power and even humour of God. The very king who was responsible for having the Hebrew boys killed, his daughter came to bathe at the river and discover the baby and brings him under her care and protection (v5-6). God is even using the family of the enemy of His people to accomplish his will.
The sister gets the boy’s mother to act as a nurse (v7-9) and thus insuring he would be brought up in the ways of God’s people. God was putting into place all that was needed to prepare this boy for what God had planned for him.
Pharaoh’s called the boy Moses which means drawn out of the water (v10). God was getting ready to come to the rescue of His people, His plan was already in motion.
