Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Exodus 3
God reveals Himself to Moses as the covenant keeping God that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob knew (v6). Moses would have heard of this great God but now in meeting God he is filled with fear and reverence.
God speaks of hearing the cry of the Israelites (v7) and the phrase ‘I have come down’ (v8) speaks of how in a very personal way God has come to rescue them.
The promise to deliver and bring the Israelites to the Promised Land is reiterated here (v8). The promise is to take them from slavery to a land of richness, a land flowing with milk and honey.
God now reveals Moses part in that he would go to Pharaoh to enable the exodus to happen (v9-10). God is all-sufficient in Himself but He lovingly condescends to use feeble people to fulfil His purposes.
Amazingly before this great and almighty God Moses makes excuses as to why it shouldn’t be him (v11). Are we guilty of likewise questioning God when called to do something?
God is patient and promises Moses to be with him and to bring about success (v12). The God who calls us will also equip us. Do you believe this?
