Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read 2 Peter 2
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
Chapter 1 was very positive as Peter speaks of living a life of godliness, but now he has to deal with the great obstacle of people being led astray by false teachers (v1). Peter speaks of people being led astray by their sensuality (v2) which means that there is something that is attractive to the flesh, our fallen nature and desires. This can include something that feeds our egos.
Peter in response speaks of how God is more than able to punish the unrighteous and rescue the godly (v9). To highlight this he reminds us of the examples of fallen angels (v4), Noah’s days (v5) and Sodom and Gomorroh (v6-8).
The difference between the saved and unsaved is not just a matter of a profession of faith, but also a clear distinction in how they live their lives.
Peter continues to emphasise that the fruit of how people live will show the destiny of these people as he gives a description of the godless (v10-22).
They are waterless springs and clouds without water (v17), they promise much but deliver little. What a challenge, something for us to pray about!
