Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read Psalm 20-21
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
Both of these Psalms are about praying for the King. In Psalm 21 we see:-
- The King’s Joy in the Lord’s strength (v1) – David is not only trusting in the Lord, he is thrilled at who God is. Are you excited about God and His love?
- God’s Gifts to His King (v2-6) – there is a sense of amazement at how good God has been to him. The believers’ greatest fulfilment will be in heaven, but even here on earth believers receive much goodness from God.
The King received so much honour, but the wonderful thing that all believers will receive such honour in heaven as they reign in glory.
- The King’s Response (v7) – God’s goodness leads to faith in God. The more we become aware of God’s greatness, the more faith should grow.
- The Judgment on the King’s Enemies (v8-12) – those who resist God and His people in the end will face terrible consequences. God is in control and the schemes of the wicked will in the end come to nothing.
- The People’s Joy in the Lord’s Strength (v13) – we started the Psalm with the King’s joy (v1) and we end with the people’s joy (v13). Good leadership should direct others to glorify and enjoy God.
Do you help people to rejoice in God and rely on Him alone?
