Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org. Please read John 9
Teaching by Rev. William Moody
Jesus now compassionately searches and finds the man he has healed (v35). Not content with bringing physical sight, Jesus wants the man to have clear spiritual sight. The man wants to know who the Son of Man is (v36).
The man has seen the Son of Man (v37) and seen him work so graciously and powerfully for his healing. Meeting with Christ has brought this man to faith in Jesus (v38). Faith comes to people as they hear the truth about Jesus.
Jesus though makes it clear that His ministry brings two very different results (v39). Jesus brings sight to the blind but amazingly He also brings blindness to people. The Gospel always impacts people, in either softening them and drawing them to Christ, or in hardening them as they reject Christ. We must be careful in how we respond to God’s Word not just in regards to coming to salvation, but also in our lives daily.
Jesus highlights the guilt of the Pharisees because of what they have seen (v40-41). They had the great privilege of being witnesses to Jesus’ miracles and still they did not believe. To whom much is given much is expected.
